Showing account activity is very important. Your profile shows how many different students you have had, how many lessons you have taught, and reviews that students have left after lessons. It is very helpful to bring students to the platform via the referral system on your dashboard, even if it is just for one lesson.
The referral system is designed to give rewards such that other costs of the site are offset, meaning you aren't losing money by bringing someone onto the site for one lesson. By teaching a lesson, you show account activity and have the opportunity to have reviews left on your profile. Advancing Academics works very hard to advertise your services, but if your profile looks like you don't teach much, you won't get many bookings.
It may be necessary early on to teach a few lessons for cheaper than you normally would. When an account is new, it is seen as a risk to book with that tutor. Charging less for your first few lessons is a way that students feel they are taking on less risk by choosing you.
Having a complete profile is also extremely helpful. Record a video introduction for you profile, include a profile picture, and write a complete bio including your teaching philosophies, experiences, and reassurances that the students will learn what they need to.
